Funny thing about Arknight's gameplay is how initially misleading it is. It's classified as a tower defense, and the early levels certainly give that impression, but down the road you begin to realize that it's not quite a "tower defense" really. Instead, it plays much more like a tile-based RTS. It has a surprising volume of mechanical depth, and a variety of gamemodes that build upon and evolve the genre in ways you wouldn't expect.
The worldbuilding in the story goes harder than you can imagine. It's literally a world history. The devs even made a 452 page lorebook and several volumes of manga just because they could. Granted, in order to enjoy the story you need to be someone who enjoys reading. For those of us who do, it's incredible, but for those who don't, there is thankfully a skip button.
And don't get me started on the art & music.
Like every single boss has their own mechanics that players have to understand to win. Some of the early bosses like Crownslayer, W, Skullshatterer, Frostnova can be easily defeated by having super high level operators. But starting from Patriot, the players have to follow the boss' rules to win, Patriot forces players to use buffers rather than blindly deploy as many DPS operators as possible. Let's say you have 2 operators with 1000 ATK and the enemy has 990 DEF, then you will have just 20 DPS, but if you use even a weak operator with 800 ATK and a buffer (in this case, Warfarin) then you will have 530 DPS which is *26.5* times better than two strong operators combined. Moving on to Mephisto, the boss releases strong toxic gas that is even stronger in Challenge mode, forcing the player *NOT to attack Mephisto at full force* , so now deploying operators without buffers one by one is actually the better strategy. Taluhah inflicts burning that affects the last deployed operator, so using fast redeploy for bait becomes essential... The list goes on...
Like that other people also recognize Arknights isn't a 'tower defense'. At least not in a traditional manner.
ofc it's not tower defense
it's pure tower offense
I can’t wait to see how the new arknights game will turn out
It's neat and all until you're like me who runs out of mats upgrading modules and needing to farm them on unskippable stages. I swear I've moved on farming the damn rocks but man the new ones are more annoying.
Damn, another W for AK.
another W for AK and another banner W has evaded me, Wisadel came home but I want (NEED) her base version
Arknights came up with the radical concept of adding an actual, good game to your gambling simulator
Except your experience is still kneecapped by your units and how far along they are progression wise. So you still at the end of the day become a slave to the worst aspect of the genre, the daily/weekly structure, all for the privilege of opening up new strategies.
@@TheHeartThatRunsCold Not really skill Issue
@ "Skill issue" ? Brother in Christ... Just because some turbo fixated no lives have spent days labbing out methods to beat hard stages with weak characters doesn't mean everyone wants to put themselves through that. Arknights makes money because buying the solution is so profitable, it is a compromised tower defense by design.
@TheHeartThatRunsCold Still skill Issue bro. Flex your brain cells from time to time. If you use that same logic the longer you play the less you pull. In my 5 years in this game the last time I pulled Meta it's Walter and Logos and I don't even use them. That's how optional this "solutions" are and how big is your skill issue is if you truly believe you need to pull every single "solution"
@@Jikuri You've been playing for FIVE YEARS, you have no conception of what the game's problems are for a new player.
Truly the gacha games were the rolls we did along the way
And the money we spent along the way
500 miles brother.
Arknights being the goat will always make me happy. I personally dont spend as much time with it due to both being busy and me enjoying star rail more(for now), but with all of star rails problems and endfield coming i might just drop it and never touch a hoyo game again.
Heres hoping endfield will be just as good if not better than og arknights
Man if enfield turns out good I might drop ZZZ. My phone can only handle one gacha game atm
@@fantasticfail1796😢😢😢 man I can't because I'm to invest in that game
Arknights is the ONLY game that i have zero regrets investing my times in. And this is coming from someone that has at least 12k hours Dota2. And with Enfield's coming too, i am probably going to focus my gaming time to those 2 games alone.
I just hope that Endfields don't have gears systems because that's a reason i love AK, i mean they introduce the weapon in Endfields as well but it's just fine as long as they use old systems from AK.
@@igm1571 Endfield does actually have a gear system, but its entirely rng-less and the materials for making said gear are able to be made in the factory
Another thing with Arknights that I love and would be glad to see other games adopt is being able to select voice languages INDIVIDUALLY PER CHARACTER. For example, being able to have default voices be JP while still able to selectively change to EN/etc if you like them more on that character specifically is a more niche but very appreciated feature.
After redownloading reverse 1999 it also have it
You can also change it based on their faction/country so you can have every Victorian character default to english and every Yan one default to CN for example.
YES more games need to adapt that selecting voice languages individually into there options im glad the new game Duet Nigh Abyss that's current in CBT1 has that from the get go and older games should adapt that as well. Right now i really want it in Wuwa to be able to hear EN Zani while enjoying JP Carlata or change to EN Carlota here and there as i love that VA as well for example.
We didn't really need the second glaze but we'll take it, keep being cool 2hu!
Arknights is a league of its own. The fact that you can F2P and still comfortably get most of the operators you want (with good budgeting) is insane.
The closest to arknights in voice acting in other gacha games that I've come accross is Reverse 1999. They're on par if not better
I play and enjoy both, but i have to strongly disagree, arknights is far away, not discrediting R1999 tho, but arknights multi language VAs and locals accent makes it impossible to pair or surpass
Having played r1999 for a while, I have to disagree with the voice acting.
I still think it's still really amazing especially for the main chracters like matilda having both a french accent and speaking french, but for some other characters it can feel flat (specifically I personally didn't like shamane and 37).
I still can't get over how Nao Toyama in Reverse: 1999 voiced a character (Satsuki) not just in Japanese, but also in English, with all the accent and such.
And we even get John Titor, who purely speaks in hexadecimal.
@@ARKMerryReverse 1999 English is feels alot better for me than arknights.Though i use jp voice in arknights and quite fine with it.Especially with caper Va and Narantuya xd 😂.
@@suryakantakaity6761 R1999 EN is predominantly british accent. Arknights accent doesn't limit itself only tro popular english accent. For an example Swedish accent by Typhon or Middle Eastern accent by Pepe.
But honestly, R1999 provide better VA for their story telling unlike unvoiced story of Arknights. I enjoy R1999 story myself while I had to watch RUclips videos to know Arknights story lol
Zenless community is chill as hell and the devs actually listen to us. Doesnt even feel like hoyo at this point
Yeah
I wish Hoyo doesn't own zzz, man. I start to recognize the pattern with genshin and hsr, but might give it a try if it's still solid once it reaches 1 year.
@ try it out. Its really not too demanding
Knowing how Hoyo operates I hope that listening to the community last for 5 yrs. 😢
Because ZZZ isn't handled by the stingy Cai Haoyu.
I'm gonna take the Limbus mention as a W. It truly is the peak of gacha writing at the moment. FGO suffers from multiple writers syndrome having some Singularities/Lostbelts written by different people and therefore having some that utterly suck (Orleans, Scandinavia), while others completely peak (Atlantis, Babylonia and S.I.N.). Limbus respects source material in an incredibly accurate and respectful way (shame about the fucking copyright limiting this aspect though) while leaving room for artistic freedom that fits perfectly with them. Cantos 4 through 6 absolutely peak.
Did you deliberately leave out canto 7 💔
u forgot to mention in arknight VA, u can set each char use what language which is never been heard in other gacha, even in hoyo games u can only change language for all , not 1 by 1. imagine your squad talking in different language XD
We can make our own "Tekken" squad understanding each other by talking their own main language, it's actually funny.
I never use EN VA's on characters like for ex. someone from Higashi or Lungmen, they stay JP and CN with their different accents. (Regional/Mandarin)
The VA variety you'll find is also lovely. I mean ofc the basic JP, EN, CN, KR but you get CN dialects, Italian, Russian, you get accents like British ofc, Scotish, Spanish some Polish and more sprinkled in and more.
I also notice that when they add EN dubs, finally i can hear some characters use Korean dubs as well without change the voice language over and over.
The skip button thing is funny cause bro it’s not even just a gacha thing this is just a standard video game thing to have in general so genshin and star rail not having it drives me insane
Im constantly reminding myself that ak has like the "chibi gacha" like gameplay that my little sister used to watch in yt. Cause it wears off whenever i view it's content. The music, the trailer productions, the character designs, even the ui of the game, hell even the community.
Im almost 5 years into this game clearing it 99% with guides on yt, Never reading it's story, but im hooked. Like damn.
99% guides and no reading story. Truly peak EN gameplay
16:38 the main story can range from decent to really good but the event and bond stories range from okay to almost flawless.
Lowkey wanna defend BA gacha but just gonna say that gacha currency income is great for 200 pity
I agree that Nikke gacha is better, but like Nikke gacha is better than 95% of gachas. And currency income in Nikke is worse while new characters release way way more often.
Thanks for covering Aether Gazer, the community is very small but dedicated players love this game and want it to do well.
had u transfer ur account lately? from wht i heard Yongshi will be the dev and publisher of the game soon
@Justin_0241 yup all done, it was a very simple process. They put an icon on the main in game UI to make sure players don't miss it.
@@jigslice anyway Yongshi wants to follow the steps the StudioBSide took in terms of being both the dev and publisher
how's the pc client? is Hades with her weapon still usable? I was thinking of trying the game again
@mostpolitebot1464 pc client is great, at first it had mouse and keyboard control issues but they fixed it and I finally gave up the emulator for the official client. As for hades she is currently top tier with her partners Selene and S Oneiroi. Very much usable still and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.
What I like about Arknights is how vast it content is. It's a tower defense game, very niche, but somehow it constantly creating new stuff to enjoy, from hardcore mode Contingency Contract (CC), chill turn base Reclamation Algorithm (RA) & roguelike Integrated Strategies (IS), and recently we play auto chess & freaking football like wtf?
I disagree on Blue Archive when you put Azur Lane so high. I assume actual 'game' means something you'd play on pc or a console for its mechanics so on that note, both games are worth low rankings. Now I've played AL and in fact stopped it shortly after BA because of how god awful it is to use your Oil. The only things AL has going for it compared to the rest are: 1. Lewd skins; 2. Cute characters; both of which are dethroned by other games in this same list (character design part is subjective so i wont count that actually).
AL has 0 gameplay, 0 actual substantial story or overaching plot and on top of all this, you gotta charge your phones 3 times in 1 day and wait literally hours (i once had to wait around 10+ hours), if you want to *auto* your 20k+ oil away just so you can collect the rewards from the stages. I found BA's Sweep and never looked back.
Now it's true and I agree on BA having layers of rng to the combat mechanics (Crit, Stability, hoping your support doesnt die to enemy, Evasion, being the main ones) so I'll agree wholeheartedly on that point. Restarting is basically a gameplay feature for high-end raids. I'd argue that all of that doesnt matter if you're only doing Extreme (easy at max level and enough for anyone casual) but since you're strictly speaking of the gameplay itself (and therefore, moving closer to hardcore players) then i got no qualms. Personally I'm of the belief that rng-based mechanics (like Crits) shouldnt be a thing in games unless theres a reliable skill-based way to make them trigger everytime but thats beyond the scope of this.
Speaking of strategy, the game having the Colored Dmg as a base already makes it much more strategic than just using the highest dmg dealer in game for everything and then you also have every boss with their own gimmick which requires different strategies too, so it far beats AL in terms of gameplay.
Same for gacha. Fest units are more powerful sure, but only really needed for top leaderboard so you can make do without them, it just takes more teams & resources, but its fun making your own raid teams. AL does the same thing of a majority of UR/SR units being locked to events/limited time so i dont see the point in bringing it up for BA specifically when you dont acknowledge it in AL (and also, in AL you need 6 units for your fleet, plus 3 subs which vastly outweigh BA's unit amount in terms of investment).
BA also has Main story, event stories, character stories (momotalks), all of which are much better & more immersive than anything i've read in AL's many events and main stories.
I understand putting BA low & fuck nexon from me too but im just baffled how you rank an even worse gacha at being a 'game' so many tiers above. AL is absolute dogshit as far as a functional game (for gaming purposes) goes, only having their L2Ds as anything worth playing the game for, and even then personally I'd say BA's L2Ds, cafe, & EX skill animations are far more quality than anything AL has, unless you're strictly going for a game to bust a nut to on the homescreen (and again, you got Snowbreak for that).
And i say this as someone who still likes the game and visits it every now and then but i really cant play it due to it being a dumpster fire. Op.Siren is just the same shit over and over once you've done it once, theres hardly any change to your teams once you're able to clear it and its just a slog of endless grind to beat the overlevelled siren bases everytime they appear only to repeat the process in the next Op.Siren. Its got as much strategy as pressing on a single pedal. You can hardly compare it to a raid boss from BA which even on reruns tends to change due to the newly acquired units you got since last time you did it, allowing you to push higher.
Thank you for taking words out of my mouth
It almost feels like he just recently had an extremely bad raid run and is venting instead of actually reviewing it in an unbiased way
I also want to add, FES students are not the end all, be all. If you know how to team build, you can make a team that can get you by in high level raids too. And with the inclusion of the new "Lunatic" difficulty, you're gonna have to learn how to use your "non-meta" students anyways to get the same results.
@@CEOofKivotos honestly since the last raid was shiro kuro i kinda get it that raid is fucking giga garbage
In 2hu's defense he's rating the games on Gameplay AND Gacha and AL practically just gives away everything they have. Everyone who glazes AL talks about how amazing the gacha is and that it's the best in the world.
So maybe the positives in the gacha offset some of the negatives in the gameplay for AL.
Also, if he's bucketizing both games as casual AFK style games in the 1st place then the fact that AL doesn't have RNG BS would also give it an edge over BA.
@@ian59 he mentions at some point that he thinks BA is amazing as a "casual game". BA makes it easy to sweep and do your dailies and events, rewards, etc. This list is specifically for games you'd play on your PC like any other game. Now this can range from many things such as storywise (lore-driven games), gameplay (mechanic-focused games) and so on. Thats why AL doesnt deserve what it has. It fits none of the typical elements you want in a game to actually play. Play being the keyword. AL has nothing to do, so what exactly are you playing with?
31:50 you should check out reverse 1999 dub.
Most of the time characters are voiced based on their native languages and accents along with English. For example, Matilda a French native always speaks in French accented English but also use French language when grumbling or get angry. And it's not only partial voiced. All of story (except side story contents) are fully voiced like that.

You can only say that Arknights has the best voice acting because you haven't played Limbus Company. It has the best story and the best characters. It's just great.
All the voice actors go all out not just for the story, but even for the IDs and even the new april fools event. They're some of the best period, not just in gachas.
LIMBUSSY cannot be categorised as a gacha. Its story transends it....
I've been playing Arknights since 2021 and never felt the need to take a break or really got burnt out as I'm relatively casual but it just hits different from everything else I've played gacha wise. Limbus would be my second pick if I liked the gameplay as I love the monetization, the story presentation and the music is mhmmm.
I played AK a month after it launched and have been consistently playing until now, the only times I've have a few weeks of breaks inbetween the years before was that Auto mode still needed to be reset each time a run is finished (Especially Annihilation, before the skip ticket from dailies, it took so long to farm out each week I think it was 10mins per run then 5 to cap out the week's reset)
but now that they implemented the multi run Auto, even if I don't have time to do other content, it's just a few taps leave it running for a while, collect rewards and then that's dailies done
I'm glad I stick with Arknights until today, which is still my main gacha that I play every single day for 5 years. I admit, the first year of Arknights is not that interesting because the endgame is non-existent aside from CC, the lore is okay but not the best but after years of improving the game, I fell in love with it so much that I started supported the game with my money and invested a lot of time into it. I also play Blue Archive, Reverse 1999 and Honkai Star Rail but Arknights is just special in my heart.
Oh arknights has much more than just what was mentioned. Its story and world building is extensive and it only seems to grow, and all events are in some form connected to the main timeline of events, be it past present or future incidents. Entire events are crafted just to shine some light on characters not in the main cast, and the story is not afraid of making you lose from a narrative point. Overall it is a refreshingly grounded experience where the story is fair, your main cast is not miraculous or OP while presenting the fair amount of circumstance necessary to tell a story that isn't tailored to one of the typical tropes you would see like say in WuWa or Star Rail.
Oh and its character design goes hard as fuck without being even remotely coomer. It has some of the most based character designs and lore I have seen and also one of the most extensive expansions in terms of miscellaneous lore regarding characters, which can sometimes end up being incredibly funny, like one of your operators is a bloodthirsty psychopath who keeps meticulous care of a small potted plant for example (Aye where my Flamebringer stans at).
Lastly, its lore is just gigantic. Arknights has entire books written about it, volumes in manga ranging from miscellaneous entertainment segments to main events, it even has its own serialized anime which did a decently good job with the adaptation of its starter story, and some of its events have wordcounts reaching into tens of thousands of words.
And I know I said lastly, but its music... absolute bangers, all of it.
Eyyy love to see arknights
Also ive been loving GFL2
Great video
The biggest realisation I had was that BA is just animel Clash Royale.
I'm curious what his opinion of Horizon Walker would be.
The gacha system seems very different. You roll with *_credits,_* the basic currency. You pay for a 5-roll, get five resumes, and pick which ones you wish to form a contract with after a second fee that depends on the rarity. If you don't have enough credits you can sit on it - limited-time banners remain for a week after they close - you can't roll anymore, but you can get the contracts. The only EX contract you can get from the featured banner is the featured contract, no 50/50. After 10 5-rolls you are guaranteed the featured character or weapon, but the pity doesn't carry over. After the character's initial run they and their weapon are added to the standard banner. You want to get low-tier characters too - they have randomized traits that you can then transfer to your stronger characters.
About character dupes - dupes increase the base stats and rarity. They don't add extra skills. Also dupes are more like a currency - rolling a dupe gives you X amount of crystals aligning with that character, X depends on the default rarity of the character. You can use crystals of one character on another character, to a lesser efficiency - you need 9 times more crystals if they are from random other characters, or 3 times more if they are the same class. Weapon dupes are just like Genshin refinements - they increase the strength of the weapon's effects.
The main method of obtaining resources is through waiting. Depending on your Devotion level you get X amount of the various resources per minute. After you've played for a while you get enough credits to get one copy of the featured character and their signature weapon on every new banner. There is a premium currency that you get breadcrumbs of as f2p and can be purchased directly - you can buy many things with it, but the one thing that can *_only_* be bought with that premium currency are outfits.
The combat is turn-based, similar to Baldur's Gate, Divinity Original Sin, these types of RPGs. Simplified of course. A character gets at most a normal attack, two skills, and three passives. Most characters will have less.
Can't say much about the story because I skipped it. It's mostly machine-assisted for now. There is a sort of skip button that skips until you have to pick a dialogue option.
Last but not least, this is a gooner game - it's rated 17+ on Google's Playstore and there's an uncensored version on ONE store and BlueStacks. Giving gifts increases affection level and unlocks interactive massage, bath, and bed scenes. It doesn't outright show intercourse, but it's implied that the bed scene is post-coitus because one of the characters says it might leak if you touch her thigh.
Honestly, the one thing I hate about the game that upgrading weapons uses the same currency you use for the gacha
@@PrimadanS Skills too. On top of the skills and weapons-specific currency. It's the common currency so naturally you use it in many places. So yeah, when you're still building your teams, you might come across the problem of either leveling up your weapons/skills or saving for rolls.
Limbus solos any of these
Thank god for all the fixes in FGO, having a back button on the card select screen took until 2021 to get, and was a special kind of hell for so long...that, and the addition of Mighty Chains has helped with generating crit stars.
Honestly...fair on all of this, FGO is just that old NES/SNES Dragonball Z RPG card as action economy system, with an opaque characteristic system, with a good (Not the best, but good) story attached. Its an actual story...but Part 1 didn't get good until the Jerusalem chapter, though interesting elements did exist before that.

In Arknight, the story doesn’t revolve around a single main character( for example “main stream gacha” like Hoyoverse game). It’s the collective story of 300+ character and possibly 100+ unique Npc that make the story of Arknight whole. Plus a game that 3 playable characters feel more “main characters” than the main character himself (namely Kaltsit, Wisadel, Amiya, with Kaltist so important to the story that she appear in almost every event in the story and transcend the game itself lmao)

100% Agree that Genshin exploration beats WuWa exploration.
For 1 thing the puzzles are significantly better and sometimes even challenging in Genshin. The world also feels more dense with better rewards for trying to find obscure, remote, or hidden areas.
The best thing in my mind about it is that it gives you that sense of "SQUIRREL!" where it's like 8pm and you get a task that you begin and then all of a sudden it's 2am and you still haven't done that task because you keep getting distracted.
The upside of this system is it makes the more monotonous aspects of the game a lot more enjoyable, such as early/mid game progression, farming for materials, and moving into new areas as they get released from content patches. Also, I really like puzzles and would love a gacha game that had Breath of the Wild tier puzzles. Genshin was the closest of any so far.
Between all the gacha games I wish snowbreak returned to being more of a shooter. The game started out like the division, cover based 3rd person shooter with abilities that offered some damage or other means of support but generally enhanced the shooting. Now it’s lewd skins where abilities are the main thing and shooting is more of means to buff your abilities or recharge them. Siris is the first most extreme example of this where shooting gun is done only reduce her ultimate cooldown and ability. The dev will add characters that are sometimes gun focused to an extent but they know that the main audience is casual coomers so making a big boob E/Q spam character is king.
Returned and being still a coomer can go hand in hand tbh. And I would prefer that. The E and Q thing is going out of hand.
AK isnt my cup of tea coz personally its damn difficult for me. Like i have to watch youtube videos to 3 star stages. I dont like that. But yes its super fun.
its ok bro , im same , if the stage really hard i just go to youtube XD
"Double down and stare back at them while playing.." Hey! That's exactly what I do when someone stares at me while I am busy with my games! @ 17:04
I'd disagree that HSR story si bad. I'ts quite good imo, but it looks like they play long game there, with every new planet being both self contined, and setup for something bigger.
What IS actually terrible is story presentation. Infaumus white text on black screen, and characters taking tens sentences to say something that could be said in one is just bad.
Also, I have to say that Brown Dust 2 is one of best gatahcas out there, and not nearly enough people know about it/play it. Most generous out of any I ever played, with lots of content, and some of biggest gooner bait I have ever seen, second only to maybe Snowbreak.
Yeah the presentation is the main issue. The story, lore and characters of HSR is actually pretty good.
FGO is the only gacha I keep playing after like 7 years. I tried Genshin at the start but it wasn't fun for me. FGO is grindy and quirky with its mechanics but that gives it some charm that I don't find in other games. So it will be the one until it shuts down
Yessir, glad someone gets it as well. The charm aspect is top tier. Not all just about flashy visuals or eye candy. The grind doesn't feel that bad either in all honesty but this is coming from someone who grew up with games like Runescape and other grindy MMORPG's, so it's nothing for me, I enjoy it.
I think FGO is only grindy for beginners but a 6months old account can fully build a new character immediately as long as you did all the events within that time period and there are no new materials that got released. My jp account experience was like where I stopped feeling the materials drought at the 6th month mark granted as a f2p I barely pulled any characters
@ I mean that’s true but only if you are doing some characters. If you want to level up the skills of all your servants to 9/9/9, that’s when it becomes very grindy.
@@lanatomi Generally, anything beyond 6/6/6 isn't necessary for 85% of your characters. Even some of the hardest fights like Demeter can be beaten with 3-4 6/6/6 Riders. 90++ is not required and completing story just hands you a ton of pure prisms. Plus you got free revives handed to you for story and command seals. Literally, the super grind is fairly avoidable unless you're just a bit impatient.
Skip button is a must! i like that. Also relatable in almost all part of the games i played, some of it being staring at nikke's assets, and fgo not having auto farm feature despite most of the content is just farming.
Arkights is probably the only gacha where you'd spend hundreds of hours in roguelike mod by your own free will
*any_other_gacha* could never
Limbus Company:
@TW1CE_SHY does it have good rouglike mod that people stream for 8 hours?
@ fuck if I know i’m not watching an eight hour stream of watching someone play the game I could be playing myself, there probably some people that do that but I wouldn’t know because of my shriveled attention span
also thats not what you said, you said that arknights is the only gacha where someone would spend hundreds of hours in the roguelike mode of their own free will and most limbus players do indeed spend a lot of time in the mirror dungeons be it either to grind for resources, test out teams, doing solo’s, gander at their newly unlocked ID or just for fun.

As a FGO player, what he said is true. If u really want to play FGO, that hell you are walking to.
Hey man, look, I gotta talk .Why is Blue Archive got ranked so low and Azure Lane is so high. They are almost the same (HUGE amount of roster, PEAK character design, Nobody gives a fuck about the gameplay).
Here is your take that you've mentioned the "Endgame" is optional. Then why are you complaining about the endgame being too bullshit when you don't have to? The gold rank isn't that far off when compared to the purple one. (I don't speak English, so I'm sorry for the TRASH lvl of Eng) And you say that building those characters is painful, but isn't it the same as Arknights? (No artifacts substat bullshits)
I really don't get it. Maybe Blue Archive should be the same tier as Azure Lane or ranked higher.
BTW, Nexon sucks 100% agree.
Yup I disagree on him about the bottom tier ranking of BA is but for the AK comparison specifically I think the biggest difference is you don't really need to have them "built" like with unique weapons and Max Equip, the more you know about the game the less investment you need to do, there's a lot of players that do different challenges even unleveled characters or lower rarities at the hardest contents.
I personally think BA is the perfect side-game gacha because it's the least time-consuming one to play if you only play casually and don't care about the leaderboards for the raid.
Honestly....If I were to be forced to chose one gacha and drop the others I play....I would most likely end up being fgo, not entirely my first gacha, that would've been brave frontier and Dokkan...it's still the one I have been playing the longest. Furthermore I am just too deep into nasu related things, I just want to see how it ends.
It's also the one where I may not play for even a month but I'll always be back for event stories and the main chapters.
As for gacha, I do still think pgr has the best gacha systems, 60 summons guaranteed for character, 30 summons 80% for weapon(with a weapon guarantee after losing the 80/20 coming soon), free extra character copy for every S rank for playing the ranked modes, and a good amount of premium currency income
Yeah arknights is pretty good. Which is why I can't help but see some similarities in another game, Reverse 1999.
Leveling feels similar, mats, base, farming, rogue like mode, gacha.
They're certainly inspired by the kind of design that AK used (as R1999 is younger than AK). These similarities were the thing that made me settled in easier early on
@hawkeytg dude, I just started r1999 and besides the IS rouge like game mode, I almost lost it when I found out they were adding Modules to r1999, I can't blame them plz copy right ahead.
@@vice2792ocl lol that's my reaction too back when I first played the game
I feel that for alchemy stars back in the day.
Note: for those who played Aether Gazer an account transfer noticed had been issued!
any thought about limbus company ? (thou i dont really count that games as Gacha, my friend got all character without Rolling, *Mining the MD brrrrr*) also how bout PGR? same dev as WuWu
Limbus company is probably the best gacha game i've played imo ofc (its fighting for number 1 position against arknight in my ranking 😂😂), the story are extremely good (im getting to canto 6) canto 1 are decent , canto 3 are good but canto 4 and 5 are like really really good. The gameplay some people like it some people dont like it. I myself like it, i think its fun enough (haha 5% landing tails). U should try it out
@someskadisimp7417 I played it since day 1 released, it's the only gacha game where I manage to get all the character(id/ego)XD
I can't say my opinion about Limbus Company because I got bored 3 days in (complicated combat system), but I can share my thought about PGR. I played the game "on and off" fashion.
PGR is, at very least, better than Aether Gazer. The story has some good and bad (I don't like reading a novel like Arknights). It has a generous gacha that carry over to the next limited banner. It has a simple gearing system (not too much RNG). It do required some skill in the combat to not suck at the game. End game contents are challenging enough, but not to the point you want to "off" yourself. It wasn't a "gooner bait" game. And most importantly, the chibis are cute
i played both PGR ( started from Liv Empyrea banner) and Limbus company, both about story and music are really really good
Gacha system in PGR is very generous while Limbus company you can farm for your favorite character( that does not mention they gonna give you cards to choose character when you start to play)
About disadvantages both games, in Pgr maybe in early game, you need to play 8 chapters first( kinda boring) but stories after that were great, the coop was alright
Limbus company you can easily find that the gameplay is not suit to your taste , it's good but not for everyone
PGR i can say , it makes me when i downloaded and played zzz and aether gazer for several hours and deleted them immediately because i am too familiar with art and gameplay in pgr , Limbus company, they made VA for dialogue in each chapter
Ryuushu and Faust for Limbus company, Alpha and Selena for PGR
@@someskadisimp7417 Do you know of a good video that explains Limbus's gameplay? I played it a little bit ago, but I don't think I fully understood it and I ended up not playing since then, but I'm looking to go back and play it.
Oooh, where would Reverse 1999 be in this list?
My problem with Arknights is that the daily/farming loop is rather slow compared to Reverse 1999.
Since Arknights's base got that update to assign shifts, I hope recruitment gets a "claim all" button.
As for the farming loop, I hope it gets further tweaked to play ONE sped up recording of your run instead of using the auto deploy.
Basically, you play the stage once, but you earn 6 runs worth of rewards corresponding to the amount of sanity spent.
Hypergryph
Adopt R1999's sweep system (while still be able to take over auto if possible) and my life is yours
arknights is the only gacha where playing the resource farming stages doesn’t even cross my mind because its so boring I literally go play another game while I leave arknights running whenever I need to get chips for elite
@TW1CE_SHY
And there's also losing the chip 50/50!
So satisfied to know the true Chad ranks the Arknights that high because it is actually that good
but I can't forget to mention that he completely forgot that Mihoyo also has HI3.... so it technically big 4 but I don't know how well is it as now
Come on dude play limbus company also!
They have a collab on arknights soon!!
Nikke will probably ever stay my favourite gacha.
I knew about genshin, blue archive or ZZZ, so nothing really blew me away.
But some random day i saw Nikke in the appstore and was directly hooked by that Marian cutscene.
Absolutely amazing OST, loveable and honestly quiet realistic characters and a exciting plot told dozens of times before but in it's own interesting way.
And ShiftUp as a gaming studio seems really to be interested in making good games, by not giving in on the "modern audience", or giving each of their developers a ps5 pro as a new years gift.
Really hope Nikke will stand strong for a long time, i'm way too deeply invested in this story
I think Rev1999 belongs there with arknights and one day I hope they have their big moment where they release a big game like Kuro and hypergryph
My only qualms about R1999 as Arknights player is that they locked 4* on Insight 2 lol. I just can't believe a 4* can't have the same promotion as 5* & 6* and it made me lose motivation to build Mr APPLe and TTT.
R1999 doesn't have good gameplay like Arknights. You see, Arknights is tower defense (offense) game but with WIDE variety in terms of map mechanics, enemy mechanics, and game modes.
the one gripe with arknights I have is the sweeping system it uses because it takes so long just having to watch the computer play the same stage up to 6 times with there being a chance of failing anyway and since its a tower defense there is real way to speed things up since you still need to wait for enemies to spawn, R1999 has a way better version of this where you just have to watch the computer replay once and after it multiplies the rewards also you can attempt to get lower turncounts on stages to speed up grinding making it eventually hardly a problem.
I see some potential with the new game Tribe Nine.
They made rerolling super easy (less than a minute, just get to the point where you can, exit delete user data and it lets you skip to the gacha).
They recently announced they will increase the gacha rate and rate up from 0.6% with 50/50 to 2% with 75 rate up. Plus any pulls will be refunded between launch and 3/3 patch.
Removed stamina and leveling rng, just get the gear drop and thats what it is. You can even pick the detailed information so when it drops you can see how good it is since it shows on the upper right of the screen and then choose to lock it or not.
Combat is very solid, just added instakill if enemies are too low level and start to run from you. Bosses are fair but very tough so far.
Will have to see how they handle future banners and events, the first banner is 4 and battle pass are 4 weeks and about a week into the game. I kind of expect them to do new banners every 2, 3 or 4 weeks.
Tribe nine combat is actually really engaging especially that shaaaaaark fight granted I'm playing Enoki and she fumbles her whole kit the moment you get hit so she needs to counter or dodge counter to fill her meter cause that 4th hit in her basic attack ain't happening with the way she swings that great sword slower than a monster hunter character hahaha also that tension meter has huge potential depending on the weapon effects that they'll release in the future and I really like the gearing system that they did. I really hate hoyo's bottomless rng progression
@mostpolitebot1464 Yea still room to improve. Especially since the enemies can drop them too so bosses having them and events will be interesting.
Yo love your videos man
What was the other gacha he is referring to at 7:29 ?
I didn't see him mention another fps
Good video gacha boy. I’m just praying zzz doesn’t fall into the shitter like hsr did for me
Can someone please explain me why is the skip button so important? I...just don't get it, maybe it's because I love stories but I can't understand how missing content is good or something one demands.
Because some ppl didnt care about the story
Why an option like skip button so important?
1. You have multiple accounts
2. You're new player and your new character need new mats from new region
3. Repeatable useless dialogue daily missions
4. The story (main or filler) is so garbage and boring but the gameplay is good
As a fate fan fax, but the only thing worse is you haven’t played limbus it’s great
I'm disappointed Limbus Company wasn't mentioned but oh well, it's not a typical gacha since it actually has a 50/50 split between both genders in characters you can get, no obnoxious fanservise and grindable gacha lol
Aether Gazer is probably one of the most underrated gachas right now. It's so chill I love it
I know this one is underrated but Reverse1999 is worth playing if you like Arknights...
it has the arguably the best story in gacha game and amazing Voice acting..
also the gameplay is a bit like FGO, using card turn based
Absolutely, as a fan of arknights when i saw reverse1999 trailer I immedietly decided to pre-register. I also recently discovered "heaven burns red" and its story is peak emotional damage, highly recommend.
I play AK for 4 years and I dropped R1999 after 2 months.
@@sharkz401 i dropped it after 5 days
no fk i would like to play genshin, imagine you playing it and like 50% of the gameplay is hearing character yapping
I tried all the hoyo games for at least a month. Genshin kept me for just the month. I personally REALLY didn’t like it. HSR kept me for 2 months but the fake depth yapping made me drop it. ZZZ is the only one I still play and I love the game A LOT. It is now the only game I spend money on. It is still a gacha, so I will hate it for it’s predatory system it is based off. ZZZ is still pretty amazing all around. I also play Snowbreak, but I’m not sure why I still do. I spent some money on skins and I guess I feel obligated to keep playing. It has a fantastic gacha system, the characters look good, and I don’t hate the gameplay. However, Snowbreak just isn’t that good.
I REALLY don’t like massive open-world exploration. So I don’t play Genshin or Wuwa. I have considered at least trying Wuwa anyways, but haven’t yet. From what I’ve heard Wuwa seems like a much better game for me than Genshin.
Yeah but have you tried Limbus Company?
Probably the best story of the bunch, doing canto 5 right now and holy crap I’m in for a ride.
@@Tunnelsnakes Tbh the story is well written, but overall overrated. Not that it is bad, but also not nearly as good as people make it out to be. It is a very unique game though, I think that is what many people like about it, it is not just cookie cutter hoyo stuff.
Best story for me is probably Reverse 1999 and as a bonus it also is completely voiced with the best english dub in the industry (english is the default actually).
U didnt read the thumbnail and intro arent u
@@HawaiianPizzaEnjoyer Elaborate your point
@@zomfgroflmao1337 While I think it is pretty subjective, and in general its not the absolute best, but in comparison to gacha games I think It's the best. So I dont think its overrated (I haven't played reverse 1999 btw)
First I do agree with Arknights, I had to actually put effort in it before seeing all the quirks it has and now more than ever I like the game so much, I'm amazed myself (yes the overall gacha system should get a bit better, after 5 years at least, IMO)
All the gachas you put into this tierlist are those you are actually playing to this day, most of them I dropped them since forever now because multiple reasons and in a sense, what you pointed out for each one of them were one of the many reasons (I had to drop Aether Gazer for how generic the gameplay is after trying ZZZ, shit aint fun man :/ )
What hurt a bit is Blue Archive which after 3 years Im still playing religiously each day, you are a story skipper which is fair, but BA story really hit me hard in some point and following up the gameplay which is really that casual, I dont mind (note than I dont have time nor will to play videogames anymore like when I was young, so gachas are just my little pleasure to keep somehow alive this old hobby of mine) keep playing it at all! Yes after some internal issues and such the quality of the game went downhill but after seeing what it's gonna happened for 4th anni I cross my finger for the best (it could be hard to uninstall, unlike AG, or WuWa, or NIKKE).
I agree for the Raids, they are ass that's why to never get bored/burnout/malding my shit out, I've decided to stay Gold all my life and call it a day, also as a low spender I dont have any Units maxed out and such, I know my limitation.
The only saving grace about BA is the fact being divided into 2 Publishers, one being Yostar and the other Nexon, the latter cannot do much after all or the rage of KR players will get to them really hard, therefore Fuck Nexon!!!
You got a ball to make this content. Fortunately, I love arknights
Zzz should have been a kuro game imo. But yeah pls dont fuck zzz up hoyo.
Common ZZZ W
I'd personally put NIKKE and GFL2 higher on the list but otherwise I agree with the rankings
AK is the best gacha but i drop it not because of strat or combat, simply because i am too lazy to 12h rotation my base i definetly comeback once this feature got an upgrade
I like ZZZ because It feels like an actual video game that I'd play every other day, and I don't feel forced to treat it like job and get on every day for a chance to pull a character I like, unlike GI or HSR.
how can you rate BA and NOT consider the story and characters 😭😭😭
Currently WuWa is my main gacha game. The combat has been the closest to my tried and true love Blade and Soul (which is back with NEO!).
But I absolutely hate that I hate Arknights. Just not a fan that higher difficulty stages ESPECIALLY ANNIHILATION requires reset after reset to get all rewards efficiently, even with guides sometimes. But mediawise, AK is the pinnacle, we can all agree that Lifestream/生命流 is the GOAT when it comes to home page OSTs.
Understandable :v but you know that type of content in gacha game (endgame) that really hard + reset after set of time? Annihilation is that type of content, it supposed to be hard. Each gacha game have difference endgame content too, we have time rush, point farm and Ak is survival game (truely a towner defendse :)))
Bro calling hsr as fgo 2.0 is an insult to fgo itself
FGO is also older. They are also more fair to players and give plenty of ways to roll if you save.
i usually would disagree with this tier list with BA being that low but when you say that you will be rate it base on gameplay than ngl i agree with like i love BA and it's story but even then i have to agree that the gameplay is bad that i never really play the stages only reading the stories and my account lv stuck at lv 53
Yea the gameplay itself pretty bad, mostly skip simulator lol.
But the characters, OST, and story are pretty bangers. Which mostly part of the reason why they are popular to begin with. Definitely not coz of gameplay lol.
Did they fix the farming in arknights? That's the reason I stopped playing, the auto mode was slow and boring and it was worse in annihilation where the stages could last 10 minutes or more
Yes and no
Yes, they gave sweep feature to annihilations using tickets obtainable from daily missions
No, they didn't really make auto mode outside annihilations go any faster
Would’ve been nice if you had an actual tier list
I feel it's a little bit lacking not mentioning AK music, the best music among gacha game objectively (everyone has opinions, but if you do not agree with this, you are WRONG)
if i could only play 1 gacha game for the rest of my life, it would sadly be genshin. idk, it's the only game that never got boring even tho i played for 3.5 years by now. i just rly vibe with it.
idk why but seems i can't get away from HSR, even though i hate the story and my acc is crap, i can't clear endgame anymore xD
wuwa is amazing, especially the soundtrack! sadly the combat is too hard for me, i have skill issue and can't clear harder content xD
arknights will always have a special spot in my heart bc it was my first gacha before i even knew what gacha is. i love the characters but i'm not good at the gameplay and somehow unable to follow the story, so i never get hooked in like i do with genshin. butttttt over the past 5 years i kept coming back to it - and i can't wait for endfield.
also arknights really really is the only gacha i ever played, where you never feel the urge to spend imo. there's not the ONE unit u need. unless ofc there's a waifu or husbando you can't live without. i swear. ever since i played, i only ever did max 10 pulls on any given banner to get the guaranteed 5* and any 6* was just a happy bonus! anddd i bought surtr from the certificate shop. so in terms of units, absolutely the best gacha i ever knew or heard of.
sorry, long comment :(
I say Wuwa is as easy as Genshin, the only hard part for Wuwa is the hologram which you can do anytime and rewards doesn’t refresh so it’s more for people who liked souls like games, Exploration though I find Genshin to be much more enjoyable as we have chest and puzzles every 10 meters so I find it much more engaging.
@@CaelusXII i guess it's subjective. i find combat in wuwa mechanically harder than in genshin. both games overall are roughly the same difficulty i guess.
yess, despite what everyone is saying, exploring in genshin is just so much fun ^^
It's the same for me but purely off vibes. The soundtrack and ambient vibes from Genshin are amazing. It's the game I've been the most immersed in. I can't imagine myself truly quitting the game.
@@CaelusXII I've gotta disagree, for several fundamental reasons and a few conditional ones. Genshin has a much bigger pool of shields, several characters with "resistance to interruption" built-in who can simply eat attacks, a significantly lower focus on late-stage combo strings, access to frozen which can completely disable smaller units, and bosses with rock-paper-scissors downed phases.
What this means is the average fight in Genshin is formulaic button mashing - the order of buttons is important, but the timing isn't - where in Wuwa your DPS is somewhat limited to very small windows between attacks until you down the enemies through the vibration gauge, rewarding skill via parries. At the highest level I suppose it's "difficulty", but even with direct comparisons between spiral abyss / tower, if Wuwa isn't more "difficult" it's at least more engaging.
@ Absolutely, the reason I said it’s easy because I don’t want to OP to be misled thinking it’s a hardcore game when it’s not, it’s also casual friendly, I like Wuwa more because the combat is engaging and the timings are important as you need to manage your intro and outro for your rotation, Genshin combat is just there and once you learn your rotation it’s just repeat the same cycle, but I find both games easy to clear endgame but wuwa is definitely more engaging, Holograms has satisfied my interest for hardcore combats and there’s news about new hardcore endgame and I’m looking forward to that.
BROWN DUST 2 IS MENTIONED!!
I have beat Blue Archive endgame phase as a F2P, I have most of the meta characters built and got to Torment difficulty where RNG mechanics of raid bosses were fixed, but the crit RNG is still suck, Mika is great because she had 100% crit rate and D.Hina had 100% stability rate, but there's no purple or blue DPS that have those mechanics so that two raid types specifically is my least favorite challange to do in the game.
Add more students that ignore crit RNG Nexon
Snowbreak for me was a game i put aside for now not even finishing story, and im mainly story player then anything. The combat got so damn repetitive i legit got bored....
will now try to play ZZZ, but have been having big fan of WuWa.
Apart of that, i love GFL games, and love how easy and challenging same time GFL2 is, finished msq in 2 days as soon as game came out :D
And yes Arknights, the peak of all games - insane story, gameplay is from basic to outright real sanity loosing stages (i talk about damn nightmare story stages ..... even Walter ain't cheat code there). There is reason why i have stayed with Arknights since it came out on global, and have done everything apart of Desert and just part way in first 3 IS modes. One thing to note about BA gacha, its very generous to the point even f2p can get all limited characters easily.
So even if the rateup rate kinda bad, its still overall good gacha wise.
But putting premium gacha currency in the PvP is a bad move. With how a mess it is with normal gameplay, PvP just added fuel into the fire. Though yes, limited characters isn't hard to get, only frustrating to spend on because there's many good students I like in standard banner lol.

any self respecting and genuine hoyofans, won't choose HSR as best story, they will choose HI3 instead, at least the 1st part
but off course it's not even on your radar
the big 3 hoyogames huh....
Yep, as much as I hate to admit it but storywise
HI3 (1st part) & GGZ > Genshin & HSR
I won't add ZZZ yet because it's relatively new but the story on their first two games hit really different compared to their new titles after going mainstream.
Personally I enjoy Part 2 as well, but that's just my subjective experience, I know there are people who don't find as much passion in it due to the old cast being no longer center stage (plus some pacing issues in the first 2 chapters of Part 2).
Lore-wise, I follow closely on GI, HSR, and Hi3rd collectively because they share the same universe, so all the shitting on GI never really bothered me because they never affected how I play the game (kind of like how MurderofBirds plays Genshin, he also has criticism of it, but he is the most consistent story streamer of Genshin). Same with Star Rail. Beyond the story story mode I don't think I've ever finished any of the limited events or the weekly/monthly grind.
If I have to rank it, for me it would be: Hi3rd (P1 and P2) = ZZZ = GGZ > HSR >= Genshin.
@@CelesNihility i'm not saying part 2 is bad, i mean, we need to reach chapter 7-8 to actually start getting good story back in part1, part 2 are on building up stage, it's understandable for it to be slow and tedious
I am curious where Another eden would be placed, the rates are FGO terrible, but similary it has a pretty comprehensive story, I personally liked the fact that chracters will change their dialogue depending if you summoned (and thus fought along side) with before, there is also no time limited events at all (other than the 5 year collab with chrono trigger).
